Ordination Arrives!

I’ve been a bit behind in keeping things updated on this blog lately. Life is hopping with the start of school for our boys (new school on Camano Island), soccer (I’m coaching in Stanwood), the ordination process, and the ramp-up of fall programs at Mountain View. I will do my best to get more frequent updates here, but I am also beginning the process of looking for a permanent web presence for Tidelands other than this blog. I’ll keep you posted.

Last week I was examined at the North Puget Sound Presbytery meeting and they voted to approve my ordination! At times it felt like this day would never arrive, but I certainly never expected it to arrive in this way. I aways assumed I would be moving to a distant community. What a blessing to remain in proximity to the friends we have made in the past 14 years and to be launching this new adventure! The ordination service will be at Mountain View Presbyterian Church this Sunday,  September 23, at 3:00 PM. Everyone is invited!

On another note, we have already begun talking and meeting with others in the community that have recently moved to the Stanwood area and are looking for a new church home. It seems that God is answering our prayers to connect us with those who will be future leaders in our missional communities!

    • I just noticed that I used “home” twice in a couple of different ways (I’ll have to fix that). I’m looking to create an online “home” for tidelands with a domain and website. We have people who have moved to Stanwood that are looking for a church “home” because they are disconnected at the moment. Hope that makes sense.

  1. So you are looking to establish a new gathering location for fellowship and worship? I asked because I thought maybe you would be attending other local churches, and I wondered how tempting it would be to recruit?

    • I know there is a lot of info on this site and I certainly wouldn’t expect you to see all of it, so here is the super brief version: We’re not currently looking for a “place” but we are looking for “people” as we begin with a focus on being the church in missional communities and reaching those that are not yet believers. So when I say “church home” I mean a people, not a building. That being said, we will be having monthly worship gatherings starting in late October and eventually moving to every week around Easter. We will need a place for those gatherings so we will be looking for a spot to lease. We will definitely NOT be recruiting from any other church (though we may have the opportunity to join some of them in worship at times).

  2. That is so exciting to hear about the connections God is making for you in this new adventure he has planned for your life. I am very excited about your ordination. I will try not to be tearful…But it has been a long time watching his work and his power in your life. You have been so very faithful… and I am so blessed to be your mom…
